Gluing Bamboo Flooring
There are several different methods of installing bamboo flooring, ranging from gluing to nailing. The most common way is clicking the bamboo planks together. Of course, gluing bamboo flooring is also popular, as is nailing. The difference is simply in the actual materials used to keep the floor on the ground. Installing flooring made of bamboo planks is almost the same as any other type of wood flooring. Keeping the floor stable is one of the most important things about installing bamboo flooring, but it is easy due to bamboo being a very durable material. We will go over the three primary methods of installing bamboo flooring.
The first method of bamboo flooring installation is installing the planks by gluing. A bamboo floor cannot be installed using any kind of glue; only specialized glue for bamboo floors may be used. The reason is that normal glue is too weak and sometimes may damage the floor boards.
Another way to install bamboo flooring is through the use of a bamboo pneumatic nailer, which forces nails into the subfloor. These nails keep the floor stable on the ground. The only thing to watch out for when nailing the bamboo boards down is to keep them level. Unlike with glue, the nails cannot fill any pockets of air, which may cause squeaking and eventual damage to the floor.
Perhaps the greatest advantage to installing bamboo flooring is using click together bamboo boards. These boards can simply be laid on the ground and click to each other so they stay in place. It must be fitted to the room tightly so each board does not un-click and make the floor come apart.
Regardless of the method used, installing bamboo flooring is pretty much the same as any other floor. Gluing a bamboo floor to the subfloor must be done with specialized glue, otherwise a person risks having the floor damaged or unstable. Nailing bamboo flooring with a pneumatic nailer can be better, but the boards must be laid down as flat as possible to prevent any air pockets from forming. Using click together bamboo is perhaps the easiest way to install bamboo flooring. They must tightly fit into a room so they do not un-click, however. Using any of these three methods is a great way to install a brand new bamboo floor.
